For those who want to stand out while sitting on someone's friend list, Modern Warfare 2 allows players to change the color of their player name. This color customizer is not visible in-game or while waiting in the lobby, but it is visible to the player when editing their loadout and on the friend list.
What makes this slightly complicated is that to be able to use these cool colors on your player profile, you'll need to use the clan tag feature. But by following the steps provided below, it's fairly simple to do:

Number codes:
- ^0: Black
- ^1: Red
- ^2: Green
- ^3: Yellow
- ^4: Blue
- ^5: Light Blue
- ^6: Pink
- ^7: White
- ^8: Dark Blue
- ^9: Dark Red
Symbol codes:
- Fullstop (.): Light Green
- Apostrophe (‘): Grey
- Asterisk (*): Purple
- Percentage sign (%): Mint Green
- Plus sign (+): Orange
- Minus sign (-): Faded or Sky Blue
- Semicolon (;): Navy Blue
